What is The Playbook?

01 · Video — See the skill at the elite level. Real NRL footage, slowed down and annotated. 02 · Player Guide — Learn how to do it in your jumper. Position-specific deep dive that breaks down what the video just showed. 03 · Game Day Reminders — Use it when the whistle blows. One-page cheat sheet built around game-day scenarios. Read it in the sheds before kickoff. 04 · Reflection — Lock the lesson in. Three-minute post-match self-review. Where the lesson stops being theory and becomes a habit.

How to use it

Monday — Open your video and your guide. Watch one, read the other. Training night — Pick a single thing from the guide. Try it every set at the run-around. Don't try to do everything — just one thing. Friday or Saturday — Read the Game Day Reminder. Remember your key focuses. Visualise how to implement them. Done. After the game (within 24 hours) — Fill in the Reflection. Three minutes. Score yourself honestly. Pick one thing for next week. Next Monday — A new topic drops. Same flow.

Eight weeks from now, you'll be a different player.

Before The Playbook

You take the ball, then you look You run the play your coach called You react to the defence after contact You watch elite footy and admire it You finish games unsure what to work on You hope you get noticed by reps

After The Playbook

You scan before the ball arrives You see what's on and call it before the play unfolds You read the defence and the attack — pre-ruck, every set You watch elite footy and understand it You finish games with a clear three-item focus for next week You make yourself impossible to miss

The difference isn't more training. It's smarter training.

Footy is a thinking game.

The players who get to the top aren't always the fastest or strongest — they're the ones who see the game half a second earlier than everyone else. That half-second isn't talent. It's a habit. And like every habit, it's built one week at a time. Footy Smart gives you eight of them. Eight weeks. Eight topics that cover every part of the game — attack and defence, middles and edges, the reads and the calls and the decisions that separate good players from great ones. Each one short enough to fit around your training. Each one specific enough to actually use on Saturday. By Week 8 you don't just train harder. You play smarter. And smarter is what gets you picked, gets you noticed, and gets you to the next level.

This is for you if…

The Playbook is for you if: You're a developing player (14–25) and you've got real ambition You're stuck at the same level and you can feel it You watch elite footy and want to actually understand what you're seeing You're chasing rep selection, a higher grade, or a shot at the next level You're willing to spend 10 minutes a week reading and reflecting between training sessions Not yet for you if: You're after generic skills drills or fitness programs You want a magic shortcut you can finish in a weekend You don't actually play or train regularly — this course assumes you do You're not willing to be honest with yourself in the reflection sheets This isn't a course for everyone. It's a course for players who want to think the game.

Eight weeks from now, you'll see the game differently.

You'll scan before the dummy half moves. You'll count numbers in your head. You'll call "wide!" a half-second before the ball gets there. You'll tell your coach what you saw between sets and watch them nod. That's not magic. That's a habit, taught one week at a time.
